Artist's Comments

This is a work i did in the Caher Valley in County Clare, it is the only overground river in the Burren region due to the porous nature of the limestone rock.

It was a few hours work and the idea came spontenously. the serpent is constructed out of stones from the river itself and curls its way down stream. i conciously chose relatively small stones for this work as it was my hope that after the next heavy rainfall the serpent would vanish, continuing its journey downsteam. i like the idea of ephemeral work, that only exists for a short period of time before vanishing without a trace.
